Not much really in terms of decor other than taking down my Christmas stuff. :'( However over the holiday break, I did manage to further support the case that I'm a 'crazy cat lady'. Haha...I walked my cat on a leash in the snow! YES, you read that right. Need proof? It's on Youtube. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/5guanTbop7g?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />
<br />
I actually received the cat harness and leash for Christmas as a 'gag' present. I ended up having to exchange the cat harness for a small dog harness because my cat is kinda super fat.Trinh @ StretchingForStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06917054067258358012noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8229404794781189294.post-88281905641169338202010-12-25T16:06:00.000-05:002010-12-25T16:06:50.326-05:00Mini Winter Wonderland<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Merry Christmas everyone!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I know you're all dying to see the rest of my mini bedroom winter wonderland, right right? So here it is. <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">Keep in mind that my bedroom is still under-furnished. I still need a desk especially since Santa got me a super nice sewing machine. :D</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This year, I kept the color scheme simple; white, silver, and red to make it easier on myself to coordinate everything. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Over my bed, I put up a wreath that I made by shaping a garland and tying it down using some floral wire. Originally, I was just gonna string the garland over my bed but it looked kinda sloppy. I decorated it with the same ornaments I used on my tree and draped a silver beaded garland across the tealight scones to dress things up more.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

Gift wrap paper and scrapbook paper are great sources to look into for lots of different patterns. But whatever you decide to use, just don't light the candles. These candles are just fo' show!<br />
<br />
<div align="center">Before: plain Ikea candles. Looking kinda boring...<br />

I just love the juxtaposition of the cute puffy white trees with the elegant candles. I added some yarn pom poms for texture and red and silver ornaments to tie these little trees to my larger green one. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGEMUYD6pfc_YuVDNwCxitrFgJ2W95yOV34EOsAOoe_6IbGKFNuldK9-SQtmwGF_o-bxQi0NG4RYoDfuoTd4CSkHEj7KHUPCUujlOTN4nSF00B8bOGkxyVn6msPDZ3vd6xO9dWNyLMpvf_/s1600/IMG_2200.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGEMUYD6pfc_YuVDNwCxitrFgJ2W95yOV34EOsAOoe_6IbGKFNuldK9-SQtmwGF_o-bxQi0NG4RYoDfuoTd4CSkHEj7KHUPCUujlOTN4nSF00B8bOGkxyVn6msPDZ3vd6xO9dWNyLMpvf_/s320/IMG_2200.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Read on if you wanna know how to make one too!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Materials:<br />
- fleece (1/4 yard will be plenty to make 2 trees)<br />
- fiber-fill or quilting batting (I used leftover batting from my <a href="http://stretchingforstyle.blogspot.com/2010/11/diy-upholstered-bedframe.html">DIY upholstered bed</a> project)<br />
- thread<br />
- 2 sewing needles<br />
- spool of thread for tree trunk (optional)<br />
<br />
You can create your own tree pattern or print these out (be sure to resize them to the dimensions you want).<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihrmKwIgfUvyCQBhV-6dA-s4W3eGdiyoKoaofwaQT4WgwOxz787MweNJAnFt_IDB6vuIoz696hrH0KJhij6eWajSigHqfrZr5JlKKhqKmLDgvdkcRdStsMGjEqaD4ZntyRo9J5bvb6GRj4/s1600/medium.tree.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihrmKwIgfUvyCQBhV-6dA-s4W3eGdiyoKoaofwaQT4WgwOxz787MweNJAnFt_IDB6vuIoz696hrH0KJhij6eWajSigHqfrZr5JlKKhqKmLDgvdkcRdStsMGjEqaD4ZntyRo9J5bvb6GRj4/s320/medium.tree.jpg" width="241" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheHg3pls4zoFC7uKvXgQu9pHc0gOilIaM64Noo6CMFTRI65nwB0BNtwJ-0Kk3IFX64ey2z_T3NgdvU12u4ay2_fosSddtjrbKyXGnXGllcMuLmh3vWOpdN6mfGvUMygTHrDwYdFfCgh5Q3/s1600/small.tree.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheHg3pls4zoFC7uKvXgQu9pHc0gOilIaM64Noo6CMFTRI65nwB0BNtwJ-0Kk3IFX64ey2z_T3NgdvU12u4ay2_fosSddtjrbKyXGnXGllcMuLmh3vWOpdN6mfGvUMygTHrDwYdFfCgh5Q3/s320/small.tree.jpg" width="305" /></a></div><br />
First, cut out 3 trees using the pattern provided. Line 2 trees up (the nicer side of the fleece should face outwards) and sew along one side of the tree leaving a bit of a gap at the bottom. This gap will make it easier to stuff and add a tree trunk if you like.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG22P2QzVaVVGCCZgWPU9hr_W_640Uk2ZWYZwd1RgthcskJt4EsKNnxFHvoSk1NdDdFur8-G3dH3YVz6ozvXBVOCBzNj2igXVX9uydK2Sk7qVT3LcXSqszPEzepNyLgiq1NRubAKKw1rfB/s1600/1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG22P2QzVaVVGCCZgWPU9hr_W_640Uk2ZWYZwd1RgthcskJt4EsKNnxFHvoSk1NdDdFur8-G3dH3YVz6ozvXBVOCBzNj2igXVX9uydK2Sk7qVT3LcXSqszPEzepNyLgiq1NRubAKKw1rfB/s320/1.JPG" width="265" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Use a blanket stitch to get pretty edges. I used a beige colored thread to create a more interesting trim than just white thread which would disappear into the white fleece.</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next, add the third tree piece with the good side facing out and repeat the same process used to sew the first 2 pieces together.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Stuff the top part of the tree so that it looks like this. Next, make a tiny stitch on all 3 sides of the tree to join the center of each side together. To do this, insert your second threaded needle through the inside of the tree just under the batting. <br />
<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Position the needle so that when viewed from the outside, the needle is cent<span style="background-color: yellow;">ered. </span></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now make a tiny stitch by inserting the needle through to the other side of the tree. Repeat again so that all 3 sides are stitched together. Tighten and secure the thread to the inside of the tree to hide the knot. </div><br />

</div> Repeat this process for the remainder of the tree sections.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaxElZGAza4_SNzH0VGLHFzSIHzbEuyBYw7VQzscLaT1vH9CCo87Tx61CCb6Ta-Do1CU7rAwFRfvFC2ZMzHGDVNqUlVNH9LF0vdFhyZMBRALvhEKjYRh7areoREm77dHgJbWAWUvMTzmvw/s1600/10.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaxElZGAza4_SNzH0VGLHFzSIHzbEuyBYw7VQzscLaT1vH9CCo87Tx61CCb6Ta-Do1CU7rAwFRfvFC2ZMzHGDVNqUlVNH9LF0vdFhyZMBRALvhEKjYRh7areoREm77dHgJbWAWUvMTzmvw/s320/10.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
When the last section of the tree is stuffed, stitch the tree closed. If you want to add a tree stump, just insert it into the gap below where all 3 pieces are joined.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4lmot4PvTcMhTvO-I1Gt3gqykzi-LkGujkf4X3s7eYSxuzfN-cGBrhVXC8ZyFYaeKK5tREcECP_bXF_6VwEe8BHjblsnd_q_XWra7kIYDPZ-X3XNm6XMs1m3g12rR78BZoJbc8mVSH6a8/s1600/11.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4lmot4PvTcMhTvO-I1Gt3gqykzi-LkGujkf4X3s7eYSxuzfN-cGBrhVXC8ZyFYaeKK5tREcECP_bXF_6VwEe8BHjblsnd_q_XWra7kIYDPZ-X3XNm6XMs1m3g12rR78BZoJbc8mVSH6a8/s320/11.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I think a spool of thread makes a really cute stump. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I decided to make my trees trunk-less so I just finished stitching the bottom shut. I know I am! After seeing so many awesome holiday window displays in stores (hello West Elm, Crate & Barrel, Anthropologie!), I've decided to turn my bedroom into my very own winter wonderland. :) And since I <3 <3 <3 crafting, I'm making a lot of my own decorations this year so the process of decorating has been kinda slow since I only have two hands. <br />
<br />
<br />
But here's a peak of what my dresser is looking like lately...<br />
<br />
<br />

It's still a work in progess...I want more trees and some pops of color and a bunch of other stuff.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And in case you're curious where I got everything from...<br />
If you saw my earlier post, you'll reconize the newspaper art on my wall as madeover old purchases from Marshalls. <span style="color: #666666;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">I didn't finish the second one until after the tutorial.</span> </span>The silver candlestick and candle holders I got from thrifting at the Salvation Army for about $3 each <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">(Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel respectively). </span>The candles are all from Ikea. And lastly the part that actually reads Christmas, the puffy white Christmas trees are handmade by me. I'll post a tutorial on how to make them later this weekend. :)Trinh @ StretchingForStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06917054067258358012noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8229404794781189294.post-79228296089812468572010-11-28T18:55:00.000-05:002010-11-28T18:55:21.644-05:00Chicago for a Day<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Snapshots from my 27 hour trip to Chicago.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My room at the Fairmount Chicago. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I don't have anything Turkey day related to post but I thought I'd share my closet organization project. :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When you're living in a small apartment with roommates, storage space becomes even more of an issue. Thus in an effort to maximize what I got, I added a shelf to my closet and bought some canvas storage boxes. This is the organized final result.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuqHzO0WJ1WJkm2ShMNgpQnSvXTz2du8ibLJ93TA28E_CO2sc-tF4hFPdggJGtL3HtzPY5Sgf2uVPDC09PZSkiHWTtJqxwde7BP32ynmr0iVe_WPHljU5SazQjeRzZspdz-9ysnr0AAIT9/s1600/October+2010+091.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuqHzO0WJ1WJkm2ShMNgpQnSvXTz2du8ibLJ93TA28E_CO2sc-tF4hFPdggJGtL3HtzPY5Sgf2uVPDC09PZSkiHWTtJqxwde7BP32ynmr0iVe_WPHljU5SazQjeRzZspdz-9ysnr0AAIT9/s320/October+2010+091.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Although my apartment is lacking in width, it has plenty of height with 11' ceilings. Even the ceiling space in my closet is very elevated. Here's a picture showing what I mean.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0CxmP4JR2VI6r_kdeqnGH_zuZRStxczwFqjgmSiEUPJJACUBdxSOFmhvgsTMV3WDI8YVz1IWcp7FVzEVt1u4UdSIgcykbOJIvTIfBz-lwZw3inVu4eI9WhLSy1IBb3nqQ2soFdW9i1ns3/s1600/October+2010+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0CxmP4JR2VI6r_kdeqnGH_zuZRStxczwFqjgmSiEUPJJACUBdxSOFmhvgsTMV3WDI8YVz1IWcp7FVzEVt1u4UdSIgcykbOJIvTIfBz-lwZw3inVu4eI9WhLSy1IBb3nqQ2soFdW9i1ns3/s320/October+2010+015.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">As you can see from above, I started out with only one shelf right above the closet pole. For someone like me with a ton of crap, I really needed to maximize the storage space in that closet. So off I went to Home Depot to pick up some shelving materials. Originally, I was planning on building a similar wooden shelf to match the existing one, but then I saw the Closet Maid closet stuff and decided that adjustable shelving would be both cooler and easier.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">During a visit to a local discount store near my apartment, I found some canvas boxes and picked up 4 of them. I only have 3 in the picture below since I had already assembled one before realizing I should photograph them. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitGvGoDuJWoam7cdSQhsg6qMoje9sVNU3nN1hfjX7ND1INocNNXtGD-0CLvBDelKSeXIsDANPEBGlA-7uLgDIqZ5k4LbKREAy2IzOQh5XI8vTIlI2n9kW_pSdI8tN6wyLgiwmj1G3atVl-/s1600/October+2010+086.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="249" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitGvGoDuJWoam7cdSQhsg6qMoje9sVNU3nN1hfjX7ND1INocNNXtGD-0CLvBDelKSeXIsDANPEBGlA-7uLgDIqZ5k4LbKREAy2IzOQh5XI8vTIlI2n9kW_pSdI8tN6wyLgiwmj1G3atVl-/s320/October+2010+086.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjb-Z2we97SY0Cxw1dnkT9AlnmcnoDDsw0stL6o770__RkpGOZgYMWdjhkdb2-WTpgn9mL-RWuP229pohIQVX2ZXyxwp9TgbtRRd4VGonbRQMUMXhzvkY2dpmNgudnUeT8pinpFZ9cdctp/s1600/October+2010+090.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjb-Z2we97SY0Cxw1dnkT9AlnmcnoDDsw0stL6o770__RkpGOZgYMWdjhkdb2-WTpgn9mL-RWuP229pohIQVX2ZXyxwp9TgbtRRd4VGonbRQMUMXhzvkY2dpmNgudnUeT8pinpFZ9cdctp/s320/October+2010+090.jpg" width="155" /></a></div><br />
I picked up coordinating colors, beige and black. And labeled them according to their contents. I even labeled one "random stuff". Thanks to my snazzy new boxes and shelf, I now have a visually appealing way of putting all of my crap away. <br />

This means no more cardboard box "dressers" to clutter my room. YAY! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I ended up picking out two Ikea Malm 4 drawer dressers ($100 each) because I need a lot of storage for cheap in my tiny apartment. I considered buying a dresser using Craigslist but getting it home to Brooklyn would be such a hassle for large items. I also tried thrifting at a nearby Salvation Army only to find icky dressers priced above $150 each. Therefore, I went to good ol' affordable Ikea because I can get it delivered along with some other stuff I need/want. I <3 Ikea. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPRJYxPAThAeWuKYjko1xbu59cxAYAdRkNdy4UeBePP6SNWWBU_c79pVCQqeSHj1C2pdzRGjj3JJZpA5yKDU4peUhyzOlyQ29pBpOAxXzw7zJjr8Pf8oJXIiEM_3p50Ko1pE94q8wh0erY/s1600/November+2010+017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPRJYxPAThAeWuKYjko1xbu59cxAYAdRkNdy4UeBePP6SNWWBU_c79pVCQqeSHj1C2pdzRGjj3JJZpA5yKDU4peUhyzOlyQ29pBpOAxXzw7zJjr8Pf8oJXIiEM_3p50Ko1pE94q8wh0erY/s320/November+2010+017.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Anyways, what do you think of Malm dressers? Too plain and streamlined? Or perfectly simplistic and modern? I waver between leaving it as is and giving them a nice coat of paint with some hardware.<br />
<br />
Speaking of hardware, I LOVE glass knobs. Anthropologie has some really pretty knobs but to buy 16 knobs (2 per drawer) would seriously add up at $8-$10 a piece.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWJfDjd16M-UWUsSzp14TFFAkQnv8_69bzW25i_y_bEj7XS6XwOsAxgeVtK0jRps1DZp8eLsSHgxAkrVAz-szedWyQUmSTGeoc-4-u0EcS-lSXM75NIpbqBBi2OuUjU7pOzrWkQljjdO0a/s1600/Blog1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWJfDjd16M-UWUsSzp14TFFAkQnv8_69bzW25i_y_bEj7XS6XwOsAxgeVtK0jRps1DZp8eLsSHgxAkrVAz-szedWyQUmSTGeoc-4-u0EcS-lSXM75NIpbqBBi2OuUjU7pOzrWkQljjdO0a/s320/Blog1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
So then I thought about DIYing some fancy looking knobs using cheap flat-topped knobs as a base from Home Depot and gluing some pretty flat glass or flat gemstone beads. Then I spotted these at Home Depot and thought "hey good enough!" for now. Wanna know the best part? The knobs were only $1.19 a piece from Home Depot! In case you're curious, they're Liberty 1-3/8" round knobs, Sundial in antique brass. The antique brass is actually a really nice color. <br />

The other swatches of grey I used to try to match against my upholstered headboard to pick out potential accent colors if I decide to paint the dressers a lighter color and then add a dark border on the edges of the drawers. The two swatches below are a pretty close match. <br />

I really dig the look of decoupaged newspapers since it's simple and green but adds a lot of interest to objects.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrEFgTH3QU15J0XwgAc3MVV-JJSxn-_1JdnwH78Wmuwnm3HBbKwbGmLrL1z3nvcB4-lEiUf7ESW-1EJJNgx4gH124jIGs5uIMptiHVP4bxoZgED480-v9nDThL7zqQM3HHYyqW6sJ7lomV/s1600/david+stark+topiary.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrEFgTH3QU15J0XwgAc3MVV-JJSxn-_1JdnwH78Wmuwnm3HBbKwbGmLrL1z3nvcB4-lEiUf7ESW-1EJJNgx4gH124jIGs5uIMptiHVP4bxoZgED480-v9nDThL7zqQM3HHYyqW6sJ7lomV/s320/david+stark+topiary.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Inspired, I decided to updated this old metal art I had purchased from Marshalls a year ago into something more suitable for my current taste.<br />
<br />
<div align="center">Before:</div><div align="center"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpl6nCBQneQEAvrwYa9eH-oZHsT-RZrvCxQrD32DINFAooaLUkFB86KEumqPjKkPlw5EuddLU7T12JSKtoMWkEZgV79ZMHlhyIzBSjUSzNqWCY60iF4qn-ZnLDdOwS8qkrs91Hig0HYHS6/s1600/November+2010+042.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpl6nCBQneQEAvrwYa9eH-oZHsT-RZrvCxQrD32DINFAooaLUkFB86KEumqPjKkPlw5EuddLU7T12JSKtoMWkEZgV79ZMHlhyIzBSjUSzNqWCY60iF4qn-ZnLDdOwS8qkrs91Hig0HYHS6/s320/November+2010+042.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Read on to find out how I did this super simple makeover!</div><a name='more'></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">First, I wiped down the surface of the metal with a wet cloth and then applied a layer of white primer to the background to create an easier surface to glue on. The white color also helps to keep the glued on paper whiter looking. It's okay if it looks messy since it's gonna be covered up anyways. Then I painted the floral design a pale gray. I used some leftover Martha Stewart Living in Sharkey Gray from my <a href="http://stretchingforstyle.blogspot.com/2010/11/diy-upholstered-bedframe.html">DIY upholstered bed project</a>. It's in eggshell but looks glossy because the paint is still wet.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgnsD6AaFrHBQX3KixIh48xH5yKFIGCQ4ig4eCrHClaQ8CuH55hHJrTX12EW9dbho66tvB-y8Em2zPQqj1gitykDfKT6NAoJpWtScfNb16o09qD7yyGi2wSyChGKLshnijYYgQNnQshwiF/s1600/November+2010+066.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgnsD6AaFrHBQX3KixIh48xH5yKFIGCQ4ig4eCrHClaQ8CuH55hHJrTX12EW9dbho66tvB-y8Em2zPQqj1gitykDfKT6NAoJpWtScfNb16o09qD7yyGi2wSyChGKLshnijYYgQNnQshwiF/s320/November+2010+066.jpg" width="313" /></a></div><br />
Next, I cut up a bunch of small strips from old photocopies of my Marketing textbook from college since that's what I had on hand. Feel free to substitute other printed paper such as newspapers. Most of my pieces where either 2 or 3 lines of text wide and between 3 to 5 inches long.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgED_-xoc3e5SVJJFcdvnc8nQFUBePX4W7Yj6leohktyc0LcSLmDytU6PWssMBH3PJtI2UW0d4BIpy6FVwhlZi4tXVfa1skrMUT1vNH-AJQmJUbafYWlFh2KvKB4y2IwedNEA6NmtHmrAPI/s1600/November+2010+061.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="174" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgED_-xoc3e5SVJJFcdvnc8nQFUBePX4W7Yj6leohktyc0LcSLmDytU6PWssMBH3PJtI2UW0d4BIpy6FVwhlZi4tXVfa1skrMUT1vNH-AJQmJUbafYWlFh2KvKB4y2IwedNEA6NmtHmrAPI/s320/November+2010+061.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Then I made my own Modge Podge by watering down some washable white school glue using 1 part glue to 1 part water. Afterwards, I glued all of the pieces down in a random pattern going around the floral detail which is actually 3D. I found it best to paint the glue on the backside of the paper strips before pasting it down. It's a bit smoother that way. After gluing down each small section and allowing the glue to dry a bit, I added a topcoat of my makeshift Modge Podge to seal down the strips. The white school glue will dry clear. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7ozyj47fsUTGN2TFM8XFopEa9C3nz5E4GvF6JPxqGwNu2bVbELqktQKKvVI8L7Fc6srFGTuDkmTMCQ8Pyoew-48TjXIrwaaSxi8awKEZ1tuRd4v4_b9yB2GWREdfo39CXqrGHuXtjibNT/s1600/November+2010+060.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7ozyj47fsUTGN2TFM8XFopEa9C3nz5E4GvF6JPxqGwNu2bVbELqktQKKvVI8L7Fc6srFGTuDkmTMCQ8Pyoew-48TjXIrwaaSxi8awKEZ1tuRd4v4_b9yB2GWREdfo39CXqrGHuXtjibNT/s320/November+2010+060.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
For the edges, I folded the strips of paper over to the backside for full side coverage since the sides are visible. I added a bit of clear packing tape to the pieces that wouldn't glue down flat. The glue didn't stick as well to the bare metal as it did on the primed metal.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCOeCfJTJ9PL5G2VYzKjVrmeSFXrVsxLiv6pM4T3T7fMGglQ6ZT18-bGukbIbNe9mvXDvQmjP-1qpOXsHOUvfQ1HAYmx-LBIXYhm6YpixNl11GqXMc5TROhz3s5sK7u3WHWumlXz7i0uo0/s1600/November+2010+067.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCOeCfJTJ9PL5G2VYzKjVrmeSFXrVsxLiv6pM4T3T7fMGglQ6ZT18-bGukbIbNe9mvXDvQmjP-1qpOXsHOUvfQ1HAYmx-LBIXYhm6YpixNl11GqXMc5TROhz3s5sK7u3WHWumlXz7i0uo0/s320/November+2010+067.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
After a few <strike>long</strike> fun hours of cutting and gluing, I was done! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
Materials:<br />
- something to cover<br />
- paint<br />
- primer (if you have it on hand, otherwise just use light colored paint)<br />
- small paintbrush<br />
- white school glue (like Elmer's)<br />
- lots of paper with text such as old newspapers, just make sure the ink doesn't smudge when applying glue on top<br />
- scissors<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out and that I gave a second life to some old wall decor I otherwise would have thrown out for the low price of $0.99 which is how much I paid for the glue. I had everything else on hand. <br />
<br />
Let me know if you try this yourself! I'd love to see it. :)<br />
<br />
Until next time,<br />

So although the Fjellse bedframe has great bones (solid pine, not particleboard!) and the price at $50 cannot be beat, it's just a bit too plain and cheapie-college looking for my taste. Although I could just slap on some nice paint and call it a day, my inner interior decorator really really wanted a luxe upholstered bed ever since I laid eyes on them. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">So after a long weekend of hardwork, I finally made my bed go from this:</div><br />
<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt7_ZT9q55RCu1wc-fIt3XtdsfNkYn9To6q2tik1ntbK6JLG4XXkOc5lqwiN6azsCkbEJtqHvdJkWz3yPlaAZfVA_aMg-pJdHqzWZbOrgBNOQ04ZGEq8tCgy8eGmq6A1azQbOyLgoyDGge/s1600/October+2010+008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt7_ZT9q55RCu1wc-fIt3XtdsfNkYn9To6q2tik1ntbK6JLG4XXkOc5lqwiN6azsCkbEJtqHvdJkWz3yPlaAZfVA_aMg-pJdHqzWZbOrgBNOQ04ZGEq8tCgy8eGmq6A1azQbOyLgoyDGge/s320/October+2010+008.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">Taken at night with artificial lights so everything is extra yellow. Notice how "rustic" the bedframe looks.</span></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">To this:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ0kVbxmeOkOZ_FXYTCv5TGguiPq9p0F7fn5gA5FKmrCPHkKGEuWj_6hPDj3HlFbDNGMP1URYKqvH5k9ZBY6dD5NAzLHFefIy2bL1ZIsdk_rt9lzCTLg9LU0UveayCpyDOG8PX0uXMp8XS/s1600/November+2010+008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ0kVbxmeOkOZ_FXYTCv5TGguiPq9p0F7fn5gA5FKmrCPHkKGEuWj_6hPDj3HlFbDNGMP1URYKqvH5k9ZBY6dD5NAzLHFefIy2bL1ZIsdk_rt9lzCTLg9LU0UveayCpyDOG8PX0uXMp8XS/s320/November+2010+008.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">Natural lighting makes my room look so much prettier :)</span></div><br />
<br />
I was inspired by Daniel Kanter from <a href="http://manhattannest.wordpress.com/">Manhattan Nest</a> who shared his <a href="http://manhattannest.wordpress.com/2010/07/23/a-whole-mess-of-staples/">great tutorial on how he took his Fjellse bedframe and made it look awesome</a> like this. He even has it paired with crisp white covers which is what I'm really digging at the moment too. It's so sleek, clean and modern with a masculine touch thanks to the dark wool upholstery and square lines. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijx1mbPKGr5U1Bz4_yB5ChLgZCjEIWkefxY7IUg8V2FxcFHY21-RWpLmvKHCzyp5lyBI4jjAm-veex7ZQ8JgR4W42Sv95DFOIGcIeijaXG4ijMUbcQwbxT-gtdBSvfN6ac67P3fjndJmGv/s1600/Manhattan+Nest+bed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijx1mbPKGr5U1Bz4_yB5ChLgZCjEIWkefxY7IUg8V2FxcFHY21-RWpLmvKHCzyp5lyBI4jjAm-veex7ZQ8JgR4W42Sv95DFOIGcIeijaXG4ijMUbcQwbxT-gtdBSvfN6ac67P3fjndJmGv/s320/Manhattan+Nest+bed.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Inspired by his approach to the Fjellse <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">and his great tutorial on building up height on the headboard which I used</span>, and bored with the plain wood look, I decided to tackle my own Ikea hack.<br />
Read on if you're curious about how I transformed my bed. <br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here's a before shot of the bedframe. Notice the 2 pieces of plywood to the side? That's going to turn into a headboard. Funny story on why it's in 2 pieces instead of one nice long piece. I couldn't figure out how to secure it onto the roof of my roommate's car and it was too big to fit into the backseat despite my Tetris moves. :( So I had to improvise and get it sliced into two pieces to fit into the backseat. <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">So if you're car-less and rely on public transit, rest assured it's possible to get materials home to DIY. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAdD2weKLmHsGRAXh8wwVwIu5p-knypM_OJd_ew9jOPPFFYsQQ5dyMeuMUEQXo1ewML0QH1AFHDdoo0Jiv1AFO8W_xaW-LjytOETu-070m-kq6-Mx1xhmB9UwKKyU3Mpsxx4Z9ZXEEgGA6/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAdD2weKLmHsGRAXh8wwVwIu5p-knypM_OJd_ew9jOPPFFYsQQ5dyMeuMUEQXo1ewML0QH1AFHDdoo0Jiv1AFO8W_xaW-LjytOETu-070m-kq6-Mx1xhmB9UwKKyU3Mpsxx4Z9ZXEEgGA6/s320/1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">First step is to prime and paint the parts of the bedframe that will be exposed. I primed with 2 layers of Zinnser water-based primer in the blue can, applying heavily on the knotted areas of the pine to cover them more. <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">I decided to use water-based primer instead of oil-based because I live in a tiny apartment and fumes would be an issue considering I'd have to sleep there too. Also, the Home Depot I went to didn't have the Zinnser odorless oil-based primer I wanted. </span>Then I noticed that a lot of the knotted areas had little grooves in them. So I went ahead and applied some wood filler (the paintable kind) and sanded the spots smooth. In hindsight, filling in the grooves before priming would have been better. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Next, I applied two coats of Martha Stewart Living latex paint in the color Sharkey Gray with an eggshell finish. It's a nice light grey color that's neutral enough to match with just about anything.<br />
<br />
*Tip: Wrap your brush in a plastic sandwich bag between coats so the paint on the bristles don't dry out and it's ready to go for the next coat. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsgXFXiS3KsuPm0OrYONkCRo2r3tZrgFfA7Abq9FfxiXojqnuXk9r2U5xettcX6M_SLw5h1y5yBoWDgoocoZAJs72XET9W_C4z4oEi3BLI1VI3dmNTC1K4YZRmJWB1Ctf1ECkMGsX_fv2Q/s1600/6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsgXFXiS3KsuPm0OrYONkCRo2r3tZrgFfA7Abq9FfxiXojqnuXk9r2U5xettcX6M_SLw5h1y5yBoWDgoocoZAJs72XET9W_C4z4oEi3BLI1VI3dmNTC1K4YZRmJWB1Ctf1ECkMGsX_fv2Q/s320/6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
In regards to visible screws on the bedframe, I opted to paint over them to blend the black screwheads into the rest of my bedframe. However, if you're more concerned about being able to take the bed apart later without needing to touch up the paint, I'd recommend going the extra step and painting <em>under</em> the screwheads. I skipped applying polycrylic but feel free to do so if you want more durability. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7EU4LxWyJ1gwruvV_lMl6Sy_JvdMViAjJnPszLO-icFN7HLO3_mvlHEAZCjVOLsugEKcskAYEGbbyFJXpwOxkwvDBiEOHel1MfZ-_7uge6vPBw5oK67gpRXGKI6NUeMCEmEZP26DmK6wD/s1600/7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7EU4LxWyJ1gwruvV_lMl6Sy_JvdMViAjJnPszLO-icFN7HLO3_mvlHEAZCjVOLsugEKcskAYEGbbyFJXpwOxkwvDBiEOHel1MfZ-_7uge6vPBw5oK67gpRXGKI6NUeMCEmEZP26DmK6wD/s320/7.jpg" width="249" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Next up, build more height for the headboard by constructing a frame like below which will be attached to the top of the headboard. I took a long 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" piece of wood and cut it myself at Home Depot to the exact dimensions I needed. <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">It's easier to carry home small pieces of wood than an 8ft long piece. Also, this saves me the need to buy a hand saw.</span> I cut 2 pieces for the sides measuring 10 3/4" long and one long piece for the center measuring 53 3/4" for an essembled width of 56 1/4". For size reference, I have a double mattress and bedframe.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFbF6L0FswXdvsVcnURb9bnSUFr2RruQyWLXjlS6nrLZsIE3qrV9pQ4fb2FOSu4z5AAFFUnCRAsz3F_ZcElkqwpJ0AHjAs1RUBy6Y0fu0iC1qcmvH3dG540sfHPq3ESHNFmwANQoCc7zUM/s1600/8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="93" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFbF6L0FswXdvsVcnURb9bnSUFr2RruQyWLXjlS6nrLZsIE3qrV9pQ4fb2FOSu4z5AAFFUnCRAsz3F_ZcElkqwpJ0AHjAs1RUBy6Y0fu0iC1qcmvH3dG540sfHPq3ESHNFmwANQoCc7zUM/s320/8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Drill pilot holes and screw the pieces together like so. I used 2" screws leftover from my closet shelf installation and screwed one in on each side. I also added some wood glue between the joints for a stronger frame. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwfEyFhxI6GG-VqmNkHGoXLr3yDwT5Jnl3-THGoaJ709XpkbYCxY4lJ7uKVHQdsZ5ItKz-_V3XmSeGR7S75jk8Pgw8OKY8_SZuEhc6OVboE3RDjnJMo3ElpCfU5a_hqMdKvLGviKQ1IouF/s1600/9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwfEyFhxI6GG-VqmNkHGoXLr3yDwT5Jnl3-THGoaJ709XpkbYCxY4lJ7uKVHQdsZ5ItKz-_V3XmSeGR7S75jk8Pgw8OKY8_SZuEhc6OVboE3RDjnJMo3ElpCfU5a_hqMdKvLGviKQ1IouF/s320/9.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Next, I attached the frame to the piece of plywood making sure to first drill pilot holes to prevent the wood from splitting. I used one screw every 10 inches or so. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0NCTIrFFwHcvwxhdEMlPJYKqewwQMpe_BLF-6jpy0_OLSbVsN3ydKTpJqZtrirLIOVBqR2KMqOv6QmVYeghhyphenhyphensNwp1H-ILuqTmLTEHcx9Y8Cl9OIiaun5scxfNmHpnVwkbF2KJn0KH9aP/s1600/10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="202" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0NCTIrFFwHcvwxhdEMlPJYKqewwQMpe_BLF-6jpy0_OLSbVsN3ydKTpJqZtrirLIOVBqR2KMqOv6QmVYeghhyphenhyphensNwp1H-ILuqTmLTEHcx9Y8Cl9OIiaun5scxfNmHpnVwkbF2KJn0KH9aP/s320/10.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
If you were unable to get the plywood in one piece, go ahead and attach some leftover wood to join the two pieces together. Because of how the Fjellse headboard is constructed, make sure you don't attach the strip of wood below the dashed line in my picture. This will make more sense when you see the assembled frame from the back. I choose to use wood glue in addition to screws but the wood glue isn't really necessary.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj80CEQ3JFkXTH8hXWICr_jykh7QO_bVIfInYMmXiD7FKYh6l8sxpzrPTItw3pej6vdfSaDPXWXKjnYT9daPDeKPVQgU25ZjbxxNQ4lFj3eoxxYayUJWS3igxNyi6eHjDpYkO5Sqx9TGAlu/s1600/11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="205" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj80CEQ3JFkXTH8hXWICr_jykh7QO_bVIfInYMmXiD7FKYh6l8sxpzrPTItw3pej6vdfSaDPXWXKjnYT9daPDeKPVQgU25ZjbxxNQ4lFj3eoxxYayUJWS3igxNyi6eHjDpYkO5Sqx9TGAlu/s400/11.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Once you're done with that, attach this to the headboard of the Fjellse bedframe by screwing along the dashed lines below. Since my plywood was in two pieces, I had a gap which I easily fixed by attaching a mending plate. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipJVkiXZSGHgRYrXOQAdOvI_740DbTdG-vHLm5YSAb96I8Qe_GuyvOxL-e3Vejofe323fLTUNbG5Jfd2LEEdrUrriiYdWBo5a0CtLVxl8Z75wU80bq09arIeGpdDaTncQXrmRWvVdY6jW_/s1600/12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipJVkiXZSGHgRYrXOQAdOvI_740DbTdG-vHLm5YSAb96I8Qe_GuyvOxL-e3Vejofe323fLTUNbG5Jfd2LEEdrUrriiYdWBo5a0CtLVxl8Z75wU80bq09arIeGpdDaTncQXrmRWvVdY6jW_/s400/12.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_j_38EJcEDSd6llGPBut7JvhnkWjVjGb17xR7v2q2LsUX6Q5uDCXxuhnZG_UI3q2ChifUPa3s8F5e1qjVEXhDMQHlyYJHqqDVf7I1jCA69FD8WszTwXzdohL1mL0mI1Tpr0OTcnAzrRd1/s1600/13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_j_38EJcEDSd6llGPBut7JvhnkWjVjGb17xR7v2q2LsUX6Q5uDCXxuhnZG_UI3q2ChifUPa3s8F5e1qjVEXhDMQHlyYJHqqDVf7I1jCA69FD8WszTwXzdohL1mL0mI1Tpr0OTcnAzrRd1/s320/13.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
Then I used a mending plate on each side to reinforce the joint between the original Fjellse headboard and my add on. This made my new frame decently sturdy. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2QGI89nFfzKBDfgMYjqxXktV5ckjXWrLVnMQo9TWcolYMMe54tosrdHCK-tgO3zinZLdhVK_hc6Q7iHudYGTm1dm4yvmenkz6dpQb1_ViiJsCGIaAS-TNJU7WGYsi9V37jTcMD9AUQqCs/s1600/15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2QGI89nFfzKBDfgMYjqxXktV5ckjXWrLVnMQo9TWcolYMMe54tosrdHCK-tgO3zinZLdhVK_hc6Q7iHudYGTm1dm4yvmenkz6dpQb1_ViiJsCGIaAS-TNJU7WGYsi9V37jTcMD9AUQqCs/s320/15.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
Now the frame is ready to be upholstered! I opted for a very padded look since I intend to add buttons for a plush tufted look later. If you're set on using nailhead trim, I'd advise to stick with using 2-4 layers of quilter's batting instead of thick foam since it'll be much easier to attach nailhead trim. I used a doubled over foam mattress pad I bought from a discount store for $12.50 in a full/queen size. Fold it over so the smooth side is facing out for a nice smooth look. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkAV-3RabeN7hGClHFUtB0sVk8qOJR5Yoiy2dvP2GaihCXtO74IKNU6FiEeALR8zRgMbcGpLTb-cpB6gMaHtzeozbZdcLRYz-H0qVO9_Go5um5tT3rkr5pDig2f0x4tFBsGZgbRMdZt6Sd/s1600/19.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkAV-3RabeN7hGClHFUtB0sVk8qOJR5Yoiy2dvP2GaihCXtO74IKNU6FiEeALR8zRgMbcGpLTb-cpB6gMaHtzeozbZdcLRYz-H0qVO9_Go5um5tT3rkr5pDig2f0x4tFBsGZgbRMdZt6Sd/s320/19.jpg" width="189" /></a></div><br />
Using a staple gun, attach the foam along the back of the headboard stapling every 5 or 6 inches. I used an electric staple gun from Arrow that is supposed to be heavy duty but I had a hard time driving the staples flush with the board. I ended up hammering a lot of staples flush. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVaNkIgSzho3jt71jzNutuadp1zWRv7yebsI29i-Q6FYS_W9AFqZLvyqoVHKP7eq8xxvXTlfLFoe6sTQSqNo4OL9rGPHwYUD0Nq6LlhM4uL61MgFU6lKD_gsehPzEcByoN_ZSJNyBuMDF3/s1600/20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVaNkIgSzho3jt71jzNutuadp1zWRv7yebsI29i-Q6FYS_W9AFqZLvyqoVHKP7eq8xxvXTlfLFoe6sTQSqNo4OL9rGPHwYUD0Nq6LlhM4uL61MgFU6lKD_gsehPzEcByoN_ZSJNyBuMDF3/s320/20.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then go back and add more staples so that it's attached at every 2 or 3 inches. This will give you a nice smooth top edge when adding the fabric. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPSWVW0KKuJAxxbJSz17e5qeD-BmBF_BY7kqpftz89FKiFeGMt3AL7m1tEeAoQ8kKDJFlU7Ae3YcjqkP-6TgONC4uUT3fbR_n8vdD-bTIk0NOUibhtCcBvEj2_ATr9aNxgv0kylNsM4LEb/s1600/21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPSWVW0KKuJAxxbJSz17e5qeD-BmBF_BY7kqpftz89FKiFeGMt3AL7m1tEeAoQ8kKDJFlU7Ae3YcjqkP-6TgONC4uUT3fbR_n8vdD-bTIk0NOUibhtCcBvEj2_ATr9aNxgv0kylNsM4LEb/s320/21.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Do the same with the bottom front side. It's okay to space the staples further, about every 4 inches. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYR-2qVziB8lKGzxj9jRl5SN1TLf73DbzpsSc2Y2Am5uiO4quGDlbYNyygoeQ9xKyD3RI7WcPrn_qVGghG91Vlrh265wshDhCkEUiDZahlBrnzaBFiOs2119aFVjywCa-N9Bi9T-d8wnam/s1600/22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYR-2qVziB8lKGzxj9jRl5SN1TLf73DbzpsSc2Y2Am5uiO4quGDlbYNyygoeQ9xKyD3RI7WcPrn_qVGghG91Vlrh265wshDhCkEUiDZahlBrnzaBFiOs2119aFVjywCa-N9Bi9T-d8wnam/s320/22.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Trim off any excess foam from the sides for clean side edges. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTR9wDp4vGr6zLjqeS-SWSm5Pc-0FzFVUy75LlugM_PUQeJkI2T9maUPg-znI0Lu4Ui2zPn64OSQiJydSP9MnrjRHUTm4bYZGyiUu9xG7mhEOILkj7fT8O-ctg1AU81ch2tdPzmFbq8jct/s1600/23.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTR9wDp4vGr6zLjqeS-SWSm5Pc-0FzFVUy75LlugM_PUQeJkI2T9maUPg-znI0Lu4Ui2zPn64OSQiJydSP9MnrjRHUTm4bYZGyiUu9xG7mhEOILkj7fT8O-ctg1AU81ch2tdPzmFbq8jct/s320/23.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
Next, I doubled up the batting and draped it on the headboard to check how much I'd need. My batting was 60" wide so I decided to use that as the width. It's a bit short but keep in mind you'll be pulling the batting taught so it ended up working fine for me. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsNRvej52L4X4Nn5AlJKGy-GvSlGGjn-9tguq_x6_eqyaWSRcROBT3qARCSZ-62JemcfjQtnM1rR4cOu90PfrErpUZ22dnhtkIM3vt0pJGMgwLoCEblb8XX-FVgvKxqblKHWsjPjrXr_Aw/s1600/24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsNRvej52L4X4Nn5AlJKGy-GvSlGGjn-9tguq_x6_eqyaWSRcROBT3qARCSZ-62JemcfjQtnM1rR4cOu90PfrErpUZ22dnhtkIM3vt0pJGMgwLoCEblb8XX-FVgvKxqblKHWsjPjrXr_Aw/s320/24.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
In an effort to make the headboard look more finished and easier to swap out fabric, I decided to try to minimize the look of staples in the bottom front. So I unfolded the batting and stapled the center onto the bottom of the plywood.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next, I folded the batting back up and pulled taughtly like below while stapling the batting to the top back of the headboard into the plywood. For the corners, trim off some excess batting to create a cleaner, less bulking corner. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqQfSbjfIrDOShyX2qlULbuGkFraltpG3Gx11g_X3tVzxTqJqs1rq9lKYErDVHPPWk9f2Qez94_XuQsKjDrf7U3AkVxJIFkKvUUyCLXkLan-EjDMZwI2iwrO6FQgVhl5lclnKrKoUxVjtD/s1600/27.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqQfSbjfIrDOShyX2qlULbuGkFraltpG3Gx11g_X3tVzxTqJqs1rq9lKYErDVHPPWk9f2Qez94_XuQsKjDrf7U3AkVxJIFkKvUUyCLXkLan-EjDMZwI2iwrO6FQgVhl5lclnKrKoUxVjtD/s320/27.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Fold the corner down like wrapping a package. Be sure to staple it securely. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyWP6Hl_Umh0pSCVCRonp3LFBuztbHAFrVNjVPYvG9ogNZDSQts3QKMeEE_YVmpPWjnX4lU7UDPHKv26ut3vl8X39AAcqdpf79fe7hjFq3lVfzgNg8XZeHCHRYMoUiiYDlUfweFafNVt9G/s1600/28.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyWP6Hl_Umh0pSCVCRonp3LFBuztbHAFrVNjVPYvG9ogNZDSQts3QKMeEE_YVmpPWjnX4lU7UDPHKv26ut3vl8X39AAcqdpf79fe7hjFq3lVfzgNg8XZeHCHRYMoUiiYDlUfweFafNVt9G/s320/28.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
When you're done, it'll look something like this. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZBBuwC4_VCMC6oJF5b5XlD3feCwRTRL_RUC2PIk-IFpZDADPA5D9phqXeoAXTkg8yKzwHRiLR-N-AiYD7xzwJIZB2Fk7uEyzDUbOA_Jc6XN6IIFLRz5vHfy4Y7-byLklFrq10ly66YL9S/s1600/29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZBBuwC4_VCMC6oJF5b5XlD3feCwRTRL_RUC2PIk-IFpZDADPA5D9phqXeoAXTkg8yKzwHRiLR-N-AiYD7xzwJIZB2Fk7uEyzDUbOA_Jc6XN6IIFLRz5vHfy4Y7-byLklFrq10ly66YL9S/s320/29.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Notice how clean the bottom edge looks in the front? That'll make it easier in case you ever want to change the fabric out since you won't have to worry about damaging all of the batting and foam when you're ripping out staples. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQT7eOmuQLOfMaZy5D5vDi3DBkbf6Kfp-o8Jak2_z0yFI2Z393xBCg1yMEJq52lm95WxdbyU-rxsJkvMafFsPSsRdybvG4Y411h8H58GvRVaZFY8gmDEUgKkvbgAW4qqHnZFj7FR16rWKS/s1600/30.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQT7eOmuQLOfMaZy5D5vDi3DBkbf6Kfp-o8Jak2_z0yFI2Z393xBCg1yMEJq52lm95WxdbyU-rxsJkvMafFsPSsRdybvG4Y411h8H58GvRVaZFY8gmDEUgKkvbgAW4qqHnZFj7FR16rWKS/s320/30.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next, start draping your fabric to determine placement. This is especially important if you're using a fabric with a print. My fabric is a subtly striped dark grayish-blue with a sheen so it was very necessary to get the vertical stripes perfectly vertical using a level. I used a couple of temporary staples to hold the top edge in place and some painter's tape on the sides to figure out placement. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9h-MZ4WekP0UbhyGHHDcKlwtahjlpIcYcBKqh7WvB6pSQ1H7JeXLiKnSIYu8Mc23YFOa87VSAdZ7VqNkgPL3DD23VUNcGYa5LE2WW599mQL2xGhn2cS1U_74CfTtLPgkRpVH3wMadORxN/s1600/31.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9h-MZ4WekP0UbhyGHHDcKlwtahjlpIcYcBKqh7WvB6pSQ1H7JeXLiKnSIYu8Mc23YFOa87VSAdZ7VqNkgPL3DD23VUNcGYa5LE2WW599mQL2xGhn2cS1U_74CfTtLPgkRpVH3wMadORxN/s320/31.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once everything was level to my liking, I started with a couple of staples on the center of the frontside of the headboard right into the bedframe. I folded up the edge for a nicer looking bottom. Then I did the same for the top back. Make any adjustments if it's not level. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgal-k44dvtkeK8O7Fdbwl_b3bVjkXBhhkqiHp9R8ywrnf8_mQsnpssbO3CXJvjK15xGdpy2RiRtQqAsEQoK7jX5nFO0VL7ZVdvSsYB1cl7vdLs5SkaYBExTI68frXpOxRM5BGQ0GzjgETA/s1600/32.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgal-k44dvtkeK8O7Fdbwl_b3bVjkXBhhkqiHp9R8ywrnf8_mQsnpssbO3CXJvjK15xGdpy2RiRtQqAsEQoK7jX5nFO0VL7ZVdvSsYB1cl7vdLs5SkaYBExTI68frXpOxRM5BGQ0GzjgETA/s320/32.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Continue stapling the fabric onto the headboard making sure to pull the fabric taught like when attaching the batting. For the bottom edge that wraps around the sides, try to fold the fabric until you get a straight line on the bottom. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik0IQAkHQd_3DKCEfaxLiReQmX4WySb4jsGk3l1Z3ALGxDHjIjkQHlFtxLPe52gQPCRv_NubDI4tSTWt8rrnUar7L6qlEA4hyphenhyphenAKcEvDoUN2y-mVdnZlKQYjYdTFG7i84dPFwP98wn1QyaE/s1600/33.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik0IQAkHQd_3DKCEfaxLiReQmX4WySb4jsGk3l1Z3ALGxDHjIjkQHlFtxLPe52gQPCRv_NubDI4tSTWt8rrnUar7L6qlEA4hyphenhyphenAKcEvDoUN2y-mVdnZlKQYjYdTFG7i84dPFwP98wn1QyaE/s320/33.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Save the corners for last. To make neat corners, carefully tuck and fold the fabric. Add lots of staples so it's secure. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi62SAqQlkABoXja2TASJSpyMM2Uef507jmiTE0nRaGQKbRbcm3b1WCgSIPKmcl15_XhOR-XnLvKohOhGh5nJ0WLwayNEDReHmJHPpa3x8zQOILcQz8IkZgCElkjWj2c_omD9lSvfze1Fxt/s1600/34.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi62SAqQlkABoXja2TASJSpyMM2Uef507jmiTE0nRaGQKbRbcm3b1WCgSIPKmcl15_XhOR-XnLvKohOhGh5nJ0WLwayNEDReHmJHPpa3x8zQOILcQz8IkZgCElkjWj2c_omD9lSvfze1Fxt/s320/34.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />

Trim off any excess fabric from the back. When you're done, it should look something like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh7eGRgdHUwt_V22VNgBROL0t77CVcIjp4Zq642OLF-CHkXWh-ruQsIZPBdCG3-tq0Sg1-WYaWHhYp4hwUFlOnGcP3QbkDd8YmsCPjBd3Xb-shTyRKUjKDQVjIMxR1R2QwuVb6s_onGsfY/s1600/36.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh7eGRgdHUwt_V22VNgBROL0t77CVcIjp4Zq642OLF-CHkXWh-ruQsIZPBdCG3-tq0Sg1-WYaWHhYp4hwUFlOnGcP3QbkDd8YmsCPjBd3Xb-shTyRKUjKDQVjIMxR1R2QwuVb6s_onGsfY/s320/36.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">- staple gun ~$30 (I bought an electric one but I'd recommend a manual. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>I think the upgrade in bedframe totally elevates the look of the bedroom. It even makes my old Target bedding look chic-er although I'm no longer into such bold patterns for bedding anymore. I plan on picking out some new crisp white bedding soon. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The tealight scones came from Target a year ago when I bought it to hang in the entry way of my old apartment. So far, I'm pretty happy with the way my new bedroom is turning out. :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Let me know if you try this yourself. I'd love to check it out. :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I've been living out of cardboard boxes and suitcases for the past month and would totally feel like a squatter if it weren't for my bed. That was the very first thing I got, along with my curtains. Meet my Ikea bed, <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80185066">Fjellse</a> and my Ikea window treatments, <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90145503">Trolig</a> and <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30111978">Lenda</a>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivrc10IpMnzcH4y7Z35eVczNqR-JVykKqUIL7I9sc4EcancDkFWE6QHVfw_O_09pS31FuIoCVUBogBwmA7uDUwc2wbBK5zjUTGYVUkUkqQy1tr-uCsNgiqWsTur3tCc4f_wwpwEua5jSYa/s1600/October+2010+007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivrc10IpMnzcH4y7Z35eVczNqR-JVykKqUIL7I9sc4EcancDkFWE6QHVfw_O_09pS31FuIoCVUBogBwmA7uDUwc2wbBK5zjUTGYVUkUkqQy1tr-uCsNgiqWsTur3tCc4f_wwpwEua5jSYa/s320/October+2010+007.jpg" width="221" /></a></div><br />
As you can probably tell, my bedding is nothing special <span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">and rather dizzing with all of the zig zags</span></span> , not that anything in the room looks special in the slightest <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">(sigh)</span> but it keeps me warm so it'll stay for now. <br />
<br />
So how about a little tour of the sqaulorly room?<span style="font-size: x-small;"> <span style="color: #666666;">It's actually not that squalorly since I cleaned and decluttered a ton before taking these pictures. </span></span><br />
<br />
<div align="center"><span style="color: black;">Currently, this is my "dresser" situation. Don't mind the plywood boards, that's going towards a little DIY project I have planned for later.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-1rMumjlAUDzrXQptn62hlYTaNQe7vMjuk3TU2JTwa-9X1yiZbo9bnk28y0kWIpu6FpcLezU81srkSrfYDDJvVo79HJrZ-IA3al_sgoCk7zq2JXTMhDCY8oTgtiYj5GXtiEe7-Xfvorwo/s1600/October+2010+009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-1rMumjlAUDzrXQptn62hlYTaNQe7vMjuk3TU2JTwa-9X1yiZbo9bnk28y0kWIpu6FpcLezU81srkSrfYDDJvVo79HJrZ-IA3al_sgoCk7zq2JXTMhDCY8oTgtiYj5GXtiEe7-Xfvorwo/s320/October+2010+009.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">On the opposite wall where my bed is pushed against, I have my "vanity" area. Also, meet my furry friend, Eve who is sitting in high style. <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">Literally, the cardboard cat scratcher is full of catnip.</span> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAEMzxGkiepMcoUoEzxTBhnCBBMWuOphOOs3ub9bhItvJK1O1aXRT9mn9MmyPmwguLjW9Ma-NRSo-2UoIpz0r0pSaeMLMRXDfYQUV8LUKgZ4Cq-fQlZ6Aeq_yIWOmH64aFh2tKaOcDJ03a/s1600/October+2010+010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAEMzxGkiepMcoUoEzxTBhnCBBMWuOphOOs3ub9bhItvJK1O1aXRT9mn9MmyPmwguLjW9Ma-NRSo-2UoIpz0r0pSaeMLMRXDfYQUV8LUKgZ4Cq-fQlZ6Aeq_yIWOmH64aFh2tKaOcDJ03a/s320/October+2010+010.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"> And lastly, my closet. The doors are sliding which I'm not really a fan of since I can only see/reach into half of my closet at any given time. Also, there's no knob for the frontmost door, just a huge gaping hole which you can see below. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyltHwEyHHEb_dhyphenhyphenSlXg6BQDu8zaDnTE6vbgtUUL7TWofX0ryTAl7zF15XLAoZV4HA4iuhU4VMy5-sE8wipvr68y3lokhfoXfAeNYsI0HQjpVW8zDD_6sEzZGL2wKdVJ3M-IFkDbsQrxY1/s1600/October+2010+011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyltHwEyHHEb_dhyphenhyphenSlXg6BQDu8zaDnTE6vbgtUUL7TWofX0ryTAl7zF15XLAoZV4HA4iuhU4VMy5-sE8wipvr68y3lokhfoXfAeNYsI0HQjpVW8zDD_6sEzZGL2wKdVJ3M-IFkDbsQrxY1/s320/October+2010+011.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">That's it for now. Really exciting I know, but stay tuned for next time when I share my IKEA bed makeover! <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">That's where those plywood boards will live.</span> Thanks for stopping by!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
